IB Group's ingenious approach towards diary farming essentially revolves around two things; the first has to do with backward integration, and the second has to do with infrastructure and processes.
A few years ago, IB Group took the important decision to start rearing its own cattle and buffaloes. Such backward integration, the company felt, would minimize its reliance on external suppliers and middlemen and allow it to have maximum control over the quality of milk it marketed. The company also invested in state-of-the-art infrastructure and techniques that could propel its diary business in a big way. |
It ensured that the most sophisticated equipment and laboratories were used to maintain hygiene and quality standards in milk production. It also incorporated highly-developed international techniques in breeding.
Thanks to these efforts, the IB Group today owns over 5000 high-yielding cows and murra buffaloes of excellent pedigree. Created using advanced breeding programmes, these are used in the production of consistently superior quality milk, which is marketed under the brand name 'Abis'.
A team of dedicated, qualified veterinarians continually monitors the health of all IB Group livestock and the effectiveness of its breeding programme. |
